Scouting Report

Diego Pavia is one of college football's most recognizable players, and his draft journey will be an interesting one. Pavia received zero Division I scholarship offers as a recruit and committed to New Mexico Military Institute, a junior college. In Pavia's second season, NMMI made the NJCAA championship, and New Mexico State was recruiting the quarterback they would face in the championship. While watching the game, New Mexico State's coaches noticed Pavia and shifted their focus after seeing his performance. He transferred to New Mexico State for two seasons before finishing his career with two campaigns at Vanderbilt.

Pavia finished his college career as the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy and a first-team All-American. Pavia was a dynamic and unconventional quarterback in college. He has some of the best contact balance at the quarterback position in this class, while his off-platform throws are creative and effective. However, this style is unlikely to translate to NFL competition, and his limitations as an athlete in arm strength and straight-line speed will keep him buried on depth charts at the next level.

Rundown

Pavia's name recognition could draw attention if a starter falters, but quarterbacks with his build and style rarely succeed at the next level.
