Scouting Report
Eric Rivers started his career as a walk-on defensive back at Memphis after playing both ways and running track in high school. His 2021 freshman season was limited to special teams usage, and a shoulder injury knocked him out for 2022. He moved to FIU, working as a supporting player in 2023, then exploding as a star in 2024, setting school records for receiving yards and touchdowns. He became the first player in FIU history to earn an All-America honor, landing on the AP's third team. Rivers finished his career at Georgia Tech, where he led the team in receiving and earned an opportunity at the Shrine Bowl.
Rivers fits the mold of a classic all-purpose football player. He has returned kicks, played defense, starred at receiver, and contributed in the run game at the D1 level. As a receiver, he has made an impact at all three field depths. He is excellent at tracking the ball as a vertical threat and runs sharp cuts at intermediate depths. His experience across multiple areas of the game is evident in his development as a receiver. His versatility makes him the type of player NFL teams like to fill out their rosters.
Rundown
Rivers is a versatile athlete who played offense, defense, and special teams at the D1 level. He is a well-rounded depth receiver capable of filling multiple roles as needed.
