Scouting Report

Garrett Nussmeier was widely regarded as a first-round prospect entering 2025. He was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and committed to LSU. Nussmeier started for the Tigers for two full seasons. He wrestled with health issues throughout his time at LSU, with confirmed injuries to his abdominals, shoulder, knee, and ankle just in the past two seasons. Nussmeier was the team's MVP in 2024 and a permanent team captain in 2025. Nussmeier has flashed NFL arm talent with a gunslinger's mentality. He doesn't see a throw on the field he can't make, which gets him into trouble. His footwork is haphazard, resulting in inconsistent outside throw velocity. He showed the ability to escape pressure and make plays in 2024, but some of that magic in the bottle disappeared in 2025 with higher sack numbers on a per-play basis.

Rundown

Nussmeier's 2024 showed a quarterback who can run an NFL offense. With his smaller frame and lack of recent success, his draft stock fell in 2025.
