Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) 2014 Final Results

Will Grant's Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) 2014 Final Results Will Grant Published 12/31/2014

We are proud to bring you the return of the Footballguys.com Staff Confidence Pool Challenge. 20 Staff members will pick the winner of each NFL game, and rank each choice from most confident (16 points) to least (1 point). As a tie-breaker, the person who is closest to the total points scored on the last Monday Night game will be the winner. Winners will be announced from week to week and the best overall record will be crowned Confidence pool Champion. Picks and ranks are due on Wednesday, so any late-breaking news may not be reflected in the choices. Also please note that no point spread is taken into account with these picks – it is a straight up pick of which NFL team will win this week. See the other confidence pools for picks against the spread (ATS) or Survivor / Eliminator style.

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

For the final week, we saw a lot of interesting picks, but Tremblay took home the top spot again with an impressive 113 point performance. He missed only four picks this week, but his biggest loss was only 11 points and the other three losses combined for just 11 points as well. Several other players lost only four games as well, but Tremblay managed his risk the best and took home the top spot.

Miami and New England were the biggest upsets this week. Both took down over 160 confidence points, but overall the teams that were 'expected' to win did. Pasquino tooks some big swings in the final week and came up short, but at that point, he was just playing for the top spot.

OVERALL RANKINGS

So before we get to the overall rankings, let's look at how our top 3 teams performed:

  5 16 10 9 11 6 8 13 12 4 15 7 3 14 2 1

Hindery correctly picked Buffalo to beat the Patriots, giving him a nice boost and he only lost 1 confidence point taking San Diego while the other two picked Kansas City. However, losting nine confidence points picking Tennessee and Washingto to upset Indianapolis and Dallas respectively really hurt his performance this week. And it cost him the overall spot:

Buzzard took home the overall title by just two points. He also had the top score in week 7, giving him a nice finish to the overall season. Hindery and Miglio finished 2nd and 3rd, but because they did not have the top score in any given week, they went home empty handed for the year despite being in it to the very end.

While several staffers came out on top for two weeks, including Wimer's back to back wins in week 16 and 17, it was Andrew Garda that came out on top the most with three weekly victories. Heiser wins the 'how did that happen?' award for being the top scoring team the first week of the season, but finishing last by the end, a full 32 points behind Tremblay.

It's been a great season and we hope you have enjoyed this series. Look for these again next year as well!
