Scouting Report
Jaydn Ott was a three-star recruit out of Chino, California, who significantly outperformed his recruiting profile at Cal. He earned playing time as a freshman, quickly flashing explosive traits that led to a rotational role before becoming the focal point of the Golden Bears' offense. By his sophomore and junior seasons, Ott had established himself as one of the most productive and efficient backs in the Pac-12. Ott transferred to Oklahoma for his 2025 senior season, but a shoulder injury kept him from ever getting up to speed. He played just seven games, starting none, and logged just 23 touches all season.
Ott is a sparkplug with lightning-quick footwork and burst. He has acceleration that makes pursuit defenders look silly on stretch runs. He's also a legitimate threat in the receiving game, running sharp routes and catching balls with ease. Ott showed he could handle a significant workload in 2023 with 271 touches and 1,484 scrimmage yards. After that, though, his usage and production have diminished. His frame is slight, and that may keep him from handling a full workload in the pros. But his big-play upside and pass-catching chops make him a great target as a rotational back.
Rundown
Ott is a quick player who can score from anywhere on the field. Still, concerns about his diminishing usage after his lone workhorse season raise questions about his durability going forward, likely forcing him into a committee role in the NFL.
