Scouting Report
Jonah Coleman was a productive, explosive high school back who hit the recruiting circuit as a three-star prospect. He chose Arizona, where he was afforded an immediate role as a secondary option in a split backfield. The backfield tilted to his favor in 2023, and he was second only to Tetairoa McMillan in yards from scrimmage. He entered the transfer portal ahead of the 2024 season and went to Washington. He took complete control of the backfield over the next two seasons, accruing 2,342 scrimmage yards and 27 touchdowns.
Coleman is a compact runner with a dense, low center of gravity. His thick build, exceptional contact balance, and strong legs allow him to excel on inside runs, where arm tackles rarely slow him down. He possesses more bounce than you'd expect, which he pairs with above-average vision to identify and slash through cutback lanes quickly. He finishes runs by moving downfield through defenders. As a receiver, he's more than serviceable, catching the ball away from his body and occasionally lining up out wide or in the slot. Coleman's long speed is the primary question mark, and his draft range will likely hinge on how he tests at the combine.
Rundown
Coleman is a boulder on the football field with enough pass-catching chops to become a potential three-down back, with the only genuine concern being his top gear.
