Scouting Report
Lewis Bond is a throwback story in the age of the portal and NIL. A three-star high school running back in the 2021 cycle, Bond saw little time his first two seasons on a Boston College offense built around Zay Flowers. Over the last three seasons, he has evolved into a primary receiver, setting school records for single-season and career receptions and earning an opportunity at the Senior Bowl. Bond was a team captain and a sharp student, gaining interest from multiple Ivy League schools in high school. He was coached by new Dolphins coach Jeff Halfley for his first three seasons.
Bond is built like a former running back, with a thicker base than most wide receiver prospects. He excels in the short and intermediate game, using tempo to find holes in defensive coverage. After the catch, his strength and instincts as a runner make it difficult for lighter defensive backs to tackle him. He is not a burner who will threaten defenses vertically, and his best fit is in a slot role. He is likely a Day 3 pick but seems well-suited to be a positive locker room presence, which could help his path to a roster spot.
Rundown
Lewis Bond is a converted high school running back who became Boston College's career and single-season leader in receptions. He is a slot receiver who is a threat after the catch and runs tight routes, but lacks the speed to be a high-end prospect.
