Scouting Report
Shomari Lawrence's college career has spanned multiple programs. He began his collegiate career at South Dakota, where he was their lead back. After three seasons with the Coyotes, he transferred to Florida International, where he remained a reliable primary back. In 2025, Lawrence landed at Missouri State, bringing experience and leadership to a Bears program transitioning into FBS play. At Missouri State, he was the focal point of the offense, logging his first 1,000-yard season in the FBS.
Lawrence was a high school track athlete who combined explosiveness with a thick lower body, letting him break arm tackles and consistently gain yards after contact. While he doesn't have the speed to finish long breakaway runs, his vision and decisive cutbacks make him a consistently productive back. Years across multiple programs have sharpened his ability to read defenders and anticipate gaps, especially near the goal line. He doesn't offer much as a receiver aside from the occasional checkdown target. Lawrence is a fundamentally sound, strong runner who has demonstrated the ability to shoulder a significant workload.
Rundown
Lawrence's experience across multiple programs has helped him sharpen his vision, and he uses decisiveness and burst to mitigate losses and keep his offense on schedule.
