FFQuest - How It Works

FFQuest
“A new quest every week.”

Eight objectives. Ten players. One salary cap. No season-long commitment.

The short version

Every week we post a quest: a list of eight objectives, things like "two of your players each rush for 80+ yards" or "one of your quarterbacks leads the week's highest-scoring NFL team in passing attempts." You build a ten-player squad under a salary cap, the games are played, and you get one point for every objective your squad completed. Most objectives wins. That's the whole game.

There is no season standings table and nothing carries over. Each week is its own contest, with its own quest and its own winner. Play the weeks you want, skip the ones you don't.

The weekly rhythm

  1. Tuesday-ish: the new quest and the new prices are posted.
  2. Before Sunday 1:00 PM ET: pick your squad. Change it as often as you like until then.
  3. Sunday 1:00 PM ET: squads lock, and everyone's squad becomes visible on the standings page.
  4. Tuesday: once the week's stats are final, results are posted. Then it starts over with a new quest.

Players whose game kicks off before the Sunday 1:00 PM lock are not available that week. They show up greyed out on the squad page.

Your squad

Ten players: 2 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 superflex (any of the four positions) and 2 flex (RB, WR or TE). No kickers, no defenses.

Every player has a price, and your ten players' prices have to fit under the week's salary cap ($150; it's shown on the quest each week).

How prices work

A player's price is simply the number of fantasy points he is projected to score that week as of the time the quest is posted, rounded to the nearest dollar. A player projected for 18.4 points costs $18. That's it. There is no clever valuation model behind it. Part of the game is finding spots where a player's ability to hit objectives doesn't match up exactly with his fantasy point projection. Prices are set once, when the quest is posted, and don't move during the week.

Scoring

One point per objective completed, eight possible. Objectives are judged on official final stats after the week's games, using this fantasy scoring, which is the same all season:

  • Passing: 1 point per 25 yards, 6 per TD, minus 2 per interception
  • Rushing and receiving: 1 point per 10 yards, 6 per TD
  • 1 point per reception

Some objectives are about yards or touchdowns and don't need the point formula at all. Some are about fantasy points. Each week's quest says exactly what each objective requires, and the little ⓘ icons should clear up any confusion.

Tiebreakers

With scores from 0 to 8 and a lot of squads, ties at the top are all but certain, so ignore the tiebreakers at your own peril. And the tiebreakers change every week, so pay attention.
