Richardson will be on the losing side of the Colts' competition for the QB2 role behind Daniel Jones, because the Colts are likely making this a competition in name only. Richardson is capable of becoming a top starter in the NFL, but he can't be on a team that lacked the patience the Colts showed during Richardson's first 15 games in the league.
The best thing that can happen to Richardson's career is the Colts trade or cut him. While Richardson will always have a big-play mentality as a thrower and runner, he'll have a better chance to rehab his career with a team that understands the dynamics of his game.
If Richardson actually earns the QB2 spot for the Colts, he could be worth a speculative addition during the season due to his high ceilling on a points-per-play basis.

Anthony Richardson to start final preseason game on Saturday
Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson will start the Colts' final preseason game against the Detroit Lions, according to HC Shane Steichen on Tuesday, Aug. 25. Steichen said the starters will play, except QB Daniel Jones and RB Jonathan Taylor. The starters will likely play just a series or two.
