The Players We Regret Drafting

Matt Waldman: Who are the players we regret drafting? 

Meng Song: I, too, was sucked in by the allure of Jaylen Wright. After all, he's an explosive runner with home-run speed in a Mike McDaniel offense. What's not to like?

Unfortunately, Wright didn't have many noteworthy reports out of Dolphins training camp, and some beat reporters thought Ollie Gordon II was a strong candidate for the No. 2 job even prior to Wright's injury.

Perhaps Wright will still emerge once he returns, but I definitely drafted him with a high exposure and too much confidence in June and July. 

Gary Davenport: Earlier in the summer, I drafted quite a few shares of New York Jets running back Breece Hall. With the benefit of hindsight, that one’s giving me some fantasy indigestion. 

The writing was on the wall even then—head coach Aaron Glenn hasn’t been shy about his intention to use multiple backs in the Jets offense in 2025. But this idiot figured that Hall was just talented and explosive to keep off the field.

Waldman: Which idiot, you (and me) or a Marino-abused Glenn? 

Davenport: Me (us). Glenn was pretty good, Marino aside. So, about that idiocy...
