Despite an improved training camp, he was benched in favor of Danny Dimes. That won't sit well, and it shouldn't.

He's the perfect late-round pick who could become a beneficial member of your roster if he gets reps and executes like we saw pre-injury in 2024. With Daniel Jones named the Week 1 starter, Richardson's discount becomes even more evident.

Lost the QB battle to Jones, but the team has every reason to get at least one more look at him in what is already shaping up as a lost season. His upside is hard to ignore at a depressed ADP, even if he still can't throw.

Richardson's shoulder tweak needs rest, which will put him behind in the summer competition with Daniel Jones. However, Richardson is expected to be 100 percent for training camp, and that's when the most valuable part of the battle begins.

Richardson must stay healthy, and he must take fewer risks as a field general. His receivers have to catch the ball. If Richardson does his part consistently and his receivers come through, he should win this job outright and he could be a great late-round value available at the end of most fantasy drafts.

The downside is that the Colts want to move on and award the job to Jones who lacks pocket savvy and has streaky accuracy and decision-making.

Weekly upside is high. Season-long upside is low. Projects to be a backup to begin the season.

Will open the season as the backup to Daniel Jones. He'll need an injury or a change of heart to be relevant.

High rushing upside—rushing has accounted for 44% of fantasy points over two seasons—but he's been a terrible passer. Poor accuracy and turnovers could get him benched at any moment.

I didn't buy in at the start. I still haven't bought in. Stafford, Smith, and Wilson are closer to their AARP cards than their rookie drafts, or he'd be a few spots lower.

Steichen: Anthony Richardson attacking his role in the right way

The Colts elected to select Daniel Jones over Anthony Richardson to be their starting quarterback in 2025, putting into question Richardson's future with the organization. Given that, head coach Shane Steichen was asked during his Monday press conference if Richardson had expressed any doubts about his place within the franchise. "Yeah, I mean, I've had conversations with him," Steichen said. "Obviously, he's our backup quarterback right now. [He's] still attacking it the right way, coming in, being a pro, getting in here early, taking care of his body, rehabbing, treatment. And in the QB room, [he's] preparing like he's the starter."

Anthony Richardson's time may be running out

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson didn't get much of a vote of confidence from head coach Shane Steichen after Daniel Jones was named the starter on Tuesday, Aug. 19. According to a report from Newsweek's Evan Massey, Steichen gave the following answer when asked about whether Richardson had a future as the Colts' long-term starting quarterback:'That's hard to say. Obviously, Daniel is our starter right now. And if something happens to Daniel at some point, AR gets another opportunity,' Steichen said.

Anthony Richardson's Future With Colts Uncertain

With Daniel Jones named the starter in Indianapolis, Anthony Richardson is left with an uncertain future. The Colts have publicly said he did not need to win the quarterback battle to have a future in Indianapolis, but it's unclear where he goes from here.
