OC heaps praise on Brenton Strange
Jacksonville Jaguars TE Brenton Strange has 'a lot of physical traits that can be a balanced tight end and do a lot of different things that this offense will ask him to do,' according to recent comments from offensive coordinator Grant Udinski.'His work ethic, first and foremost, is hopefully a leadership attribute that the guys can model and see what he does on a day-to-day basis. But from a leadership standpoint and just from a player standpoint, you see a guy with a lot of potential to just continue to grow, whether it's in the pass game or the run game. ... A guy with a lot of physical traits that can be that balanced tight end and do a lot of different things that this offense will ask him to do,' Udinski said.

"
Brenton Strange had strong development in his second year. The second-round pick from the 2023 draft went from five receptions in his rookie year to 40 in his second. He made an elite player at the position in Evan Engram, change teams as he heads to Denver. Strange is assured of a strong workload. New head coach Liam Cohen used Cade Otton effectively last year in Tampa Bay and had Otton finish as the 12th-ranked fantasy tight end. Strange does have that kind of upside this year, but touchdowns may be his Achilles heel. Receptions and yardage are where he has value for 2025 and given the lack of strong options for Trevor Lawrence outside Brian Thomas, there are reasonable odds that he can be as good as Otton was in 2024. Every year we see Tight Ends come out of nowhere or develop steadily into fantasy options. Strange could be a bit of both, but his clear trajectory is all upside. If he adds touchdowns this year, he smashes that trajectory to a stratospheric level.

"Exits the NFL draft as the No. 1"

"
Former second round pick will get his chance after Evan Engram left in free agency. Expect Strange to operate as Trevor Lawrence's safety valve and red zone threat.

"
Strange is a promising tight end who could emerge as a full-time fantasy starter this year. Liam Coen's offenses are fantasy-friendly for tight ends in theory. Look for Strange's baseline production in the passing game to fall within a range of 600-700 yards and 3-5 touchdowns.
Strange will earn a lot of targets in the flats and occasionally up the seam off play action. He has some skill after the catch, but he's not a big-play athlete.
If Strange and Trevor Lawrence build a red-zone rapport, we could see Strange's TD totals rise to the 5-7 range.
