I'm inclined to believe rookie-year Stroud is in there somewhere.

My ranking of Stroud is one overreaction after another. I was one of those fooled by his rookie year, moving him into my Top 3 and even landing him at QB1 at one point. Then, after two down years, I left him for dead, moving him outside of my Top 20. The truth is, he belongs somewhere in the middle, but there are more positive signs than negative with this 2026 play. He is the QB5 after six games played, and the Texans continue to put pieces around him. It helps that they cannot run the ball this year, but Stroud appears to be getting back to form.

Caserio on Stroud contract: 'Couldn't quite come to agreement,' 'nobody is discouraged'
Texans GM Nick Caserio said Monday that the team and QB C.J. Stroud "couldn't quite come to agreement" on a contract extension. "There wasn't any reluctance," Caserio said. "Nobody is discouraged. Have a lot of respect for C.J. and David (Mulugheta). At some point, it will take care of itself."
Stroud hopes to get Marvin Harrison Jr. 'some more touches and plays' vs. Giants
Texans QB C.J. Stroud said on Wednesday that WR Marvin Harrison Jr. "looked great today in practice" ahead of his second game with the team, Sunday against the Giants. "Just grow, in building trying to learn and ask questions, hopefully get him some more touches and plays," Stroud said of Harrison's outlook. Harrison made his Texans debut on Sunday against the Jaguars.
