Darius Cooper outsnaps Makai Lemon as WR2 in Sunday's loss to Rams
Eagles WR Darius Cooper outsnapped rookie WR Makai Lemon as the team's WR2 in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Rams, turning a team-high seven targets into three catches for 33 yards and two touchdowns while also playing a significant special teams role.
Trotter Jr. to start for Baun; Wicks expected to be top target with Smith out
The Eagles ruled out six players on Friday for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Rams: WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring), LB Zack Baun (concussion), TE Dallas Goedert (knee), S Marcus Epps (groin), WR Hollywood Brown (ankle) and OT Fred Johnson (knee). Reports indicate Smith could miss another game or two after this weekend, leaving WR Dontayvion Wicks expected to be Philadelphia's No. 1 target, with rookie WR Makai Lemon also in line for more opportunities. Baun's absence means LB Jeremiah Trotter Jr. will make his first career start in a game where the Eagles aren't resting starters, with LB Smael Mondon Jr. the top backup. With Goedert missing his second straight game, Zach Ertz, Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins will be the team's tight ends.
Dontayvion Wicks 'once again the clear WR2', Shipley works as RB2 over Bigsby
Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks was "once again the clear WR2" in Monday's Week 3 loss to the Bears, finishing second among the team's wide receivers in both snaps and targets. RB Saquon Barkley's playing time "wasn't really limited" as he played with a collar after suffering a stinger the previous week. RB Will Shipley worked as RB2 over RB Tank Bigsby, who fumbled on one of his two snaps. With TE Dallas Goedert out, TE Johnny Mundt was the top tight end, while TE Zach Ertz was limited to a relatively small role in his first game back with the Eagles.
