Kyle Williams, Chism start at WR; Arkin, Raridon start at TE vs. Dolphins
Patriots WRs Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III and rookie TEs Eli Raridon and Tanner Arkin were in New England's offensive starting lineup for Sunday's Week 8 game at the Dolphins. QB Drake Maye and RB Rhamondre Stevenson also started. The offensive line was LT Will Campbell, LG Walter Rouse, C Jared Wilson, RG Matt Pryor and RT Morgan Moses.
Efton Chism III plays career-high 57 snaps as 'top Mack Hollins replacement'
Patriots WR Efton Chism III played a career-high 57 offensive snaps against the Raiders on Sunday as the top replacement for injured WR Mack Hollins.
Mack Hollins to IR, Efton Chism III likely gets 'bulk of the work' as WR3
The Patriots placed WR Mack Hollins (calf) on injured reserve on Saturday, meaning he will miss at least four games. Hollins, the team's current leading receiver, suffered an apparent non-contact calf injury running a route in the third quarter of last Sunday's win over the Bills. WR Efton Chism III replaced Hollins in the second half of that game, catching a 19-yard pass and the game-winning touchdown, and will likely get the bulk of the work as the third receiver alongside Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas, with Kyle Williams mixing in.
Mack Hollins (calf) may not practice 'for a couple days', Chism in line for more
Patriots WR Mack Hollins left Sunday's win over the Bills in the third quarter with a calf injury, and head coach Mike Vrabel said Monday, "I don't know if he'll be able to practice here for a couple days." WR Efton Chism III played a season-high 34 offensive snaps in relief, catching two passes for 42 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Asked if Chism would earn more opportunities, Vrabel said, "Of course. That's what happens. Guys continue to take advantage of their opportunities, they get more opportunities." With WR A.J. Brown on injured reserve through at least next week, Vrabel also did not rule out outside additions at receiver: "Anybody that can help us, we'll go exploring here shortly."
