Rams cut Harrison Mevis, sign Blake Grupe; McVay says Mevis 'wasn't exclusively the reason'
Rams head coach Sean McVay explained on Tuesday why the team released K Harrison Mevis and signed K Blake Grupe off the Jets practice squad. "Ultimately, we need better production and that's what we're hoping to get out of Blake," McVay said. "He wasn't exclusively the reason. This is the greatest team sport." Mevis missed two field goals in Monday's 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills, including a blocked 48-yard attempt in overtime, and made just five of nine attempts this season, while Grupe went 11-for-11 with the Colts last season.
