Look for Croskey-Merritt and White to have a split in rushing production that slightly favors White in attempts and yardage, but favors Croskey-Merritt as a TD scorer. While will dominate the passing downs.

Wahington Commanders RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt said he hopes to show the team that he can be a three-down back in the NFL. He understands that he will have to earn the starting running back job during training camp.
Washington likely to use RB committee situation
Washington Commanders RBs Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols are the top two returning backs for the team. They added RBs Jerome Ford and Rachaad White in offseason transactions, while also adding RB Kaytron Allen in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The team is also intrigued by undrafted rookie RB Robert Henry Jr. The team hasn't had a No. 1 running back in a while, and it appears the team will enter the season with a running back by committee situation.
