Blue's physical dimensions, explosiveness, and baseline receiving skills place him on a spectrum of backs where Austin Ekeler is at the top range. Blue struggled as a rookie in Dallas because he lacked the work ethic, and the staff called him out for it. Blue also came into the league with a poor track record with ball security.
This spring, the Cowboys told the media that Blue looks like a different player. If this holds up, Blue will not only earn the RB2 role, but he could also emerge as a reliable big-play contributor alongside Javonte Williams.
Dallas has a good offensive line and excellent skill talent in the passing game. Blue could become a fantasy boon this year if he maintains his new approach, and he's called into extensive action this year.

Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue and RB Phil Mafah 'are going to get a bunch of work' in the team's first preseason game, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue is wanted to be more involved in the passing game, according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer. 'I think what we feel like we have in Jaydon when you're playing defenses that are trying to change the math and cheat to really elite receivers, which we have, there's usually a favorable matchup in that regard,' Schottenheimer said.

Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue admitted he 'wasn't really there' in his rookie season of 2025, but he is 'ready to go now'. The former University of Texas star enters the season in a battle to be the primary backup to RB Javonte Williams. 'I didn't start off like I should have,' Blue said. 'Maybe if it was not practicing the right way or just on a maturity level, I think I wasn't really there. But just learning from all the vets, having the offseason that I've had, I think I'm ready to go.'
