Matt Waldman
Mike McCarthy was patient with Dowdle's development in Dallas. It paid off for a couple of years and when McCarthy left, Dallas let Dowdle move on to Carolina where we saw him thrive midseason as the lead back.
Certain elements of Dowdle's rushing style have sutble links to Le'Veon Bell. Look for Dowdle and Jaylen Warren to split the workload almost 50/50. Both catch the ball well, but Warren will be more efficient after the catch where as Dowdle is the more physical runner between the tackles.
If one of these two backs gets hurt, we might see Kaleb Williams -- especially if Dowdle gets hurt. If Warren gets hurt, Dowdle could earn fantasy RB1 volume.

Jaylen Warren looks to help run game bounce back
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Jaylen Warren posted a career-high 958 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in 2025, and he added 40 receptions for 333 yards and two scores. Still, Pittsburgh ranked just 26th in the NFL in rushing, and it now has a new head coach in Mike McCarthy. In addition, RB Rico Dowdle was brought it by the organization, so Warren will have stiff competition. 'Moving forward, whatever the coaches have planned, I know we're ready to execute it,' Warren said.
