Dowdle joins the Steelers on a new two-year contract, reuniting with head coach Mike McCarthy to form a backfield committee with Jaylen Warren. Coming off consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, his proven efficiency on early downs and goal line usage should give him plenty of weekly flex appeal in a run-heavy offense.

Dowdle will have a solid role, but in a late-career Aaron Rodgers offense, you want the pass-catching running back, and that's Jaylen Warren.

Mike McCarthy was patient with Dowdle's development in Dallas. It paid off for a couple of years and when McCarthy left, Dallas let Dowdle move on to Carolina where we saw him thrive midseason as the lead back.
Certain elements of Dowdle's rushing style have sutble links to Le'Veon Bell. Look for Dowdle and Jaylen Warren to split the workload almost 50/50. Both catch the ball well, but Warren will be more efficient after the catch where as Dowdle is the more physical runner between the tackles.
If one of these two backs gets hurt, we might see Kaleb Williams -- especially if Dowdle gets hurt. If Warren gets hurt, Dowdle could earn fantasy RB1 volume.

Reunited with Mike McCarthy, he lands in a committee with Jaylen Warren. Now entering his age-28 season, Dowdle is signed through 2027, though the Steelers have an out after this season. His upside arises from a potential lead role, a la his 2024 season with McCarthy, when he finished as the RB23 in PPR formats, while the downside comes from a role more in line with 2023, when he was the RB51, also under McCarthy.
