Trevor Etienne activated off IR, questionable for Sunday at Eagles

The Panthers activated RB Trevor Etienne to the 53-man roster on Saturday ahead of Sunday's Week 6 game at the Eagles. Etienne, working back from an ankle injury, was a full participant in practice every day this week and is listed as questionable. With RB AJ Dillon out with an ankle injury, the team also elevated RB Anthony Tyus III from the practice squad to serve as a third back, his second elevation.

Trevor Etienne 'looks good to go' off IR, set to reprise kick return role

Panthers RB Trevor Etienne has an imminent return from injured reserve after the Week 5 bye, head coach Dave Canales said on Monday. Etienne looks good to go and is expected to reprise his role as the team's go-to kick returner. The Panthers have already shuffled the roster to open spots for Etienne and other players nearing a return.

Canales 'hopeful' Jaelan Phillips returns after bye, Etienne expected back from IR

Panthers head coach Dave Canales said on Monday that the team is "hopeful" DE Jaelan Phillips (hamstring) and RT Monroe Freeling (knee) will be able to return for the Week 6 game against the Eagles after the Week 5 bye. Both were injured in Sunday night's win over the Lions, and Phillips had one tackle before leaving; he has eight tackles and two sacks on the season. Canales also said the team expects RB Trevor Etienne (ankle) to return from injured reserve after the bye. DT Tershawn Wharton (neck) and OT Taylor Moton (blood clots) are awaiting medical clearance, while OT Ikem Ekwonu (knee) is not close to a return.
