Tyler Warren ruled out, TE rotation expected vs. Vikings
Colts TE Tyler Warren (groin) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 7 game at the Vikings after not practicing on Friday. With Warren out, TEs Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree and Will Mallory are expected to see more snaps than normal in a bigger rotation at the position.
Will Mallory 'top receiving option' at TE with Tyler Warren out
Colts TE Will Mallory has "always been the top receiving option" behind TE Tyler Warren, who is inactive for Sunday's game against the Titans with a groin injury. "It's just that when Warren's healthy, he gets all of those snaps." Mallory was activated off injured reserve on Saturday.
Colts activate TE Will Mallory off IR with Warren 'questionable'
The Colts activated TE Will Mallory off injured reserve on Saturday after opening his 21-day practice window. Mallory had spent the entire season on IR after a thumb injury that cost him the final two preseason games. He has been behind Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, and Drew Ogletree on the depth chart, but Warren is questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans with a groin injury after being limited in practice on Friday. Mallory led the Colts with six catches for 80 yards in the preseason opener against the Patriots.
Colts open Will Mallory's 21-day window to return from injured reserve
The Colts opened TE Will Mallory's 21-day window to return from injured reserve on Wednesday, and he was listed as a full participant in practice. Mallory was placed on injured reserve in late August with a thumb injury after catching six passes for 80 yards in the preseason opener. Head coach Shane Steichen said the team will evaluate him this week before deciding whether he can be activated for Sunday's game at the Steelers. "It's been a while since he's been practicing, so we'll get him out there today, get him running around and then we'll go from there," Steichen said.
