Summary

Although the headlines read that Michael Gallup signed a 5-year, $63-million deal to stay in Dallas, the truth is more like a 2-year, $24 million contract. That's still a significant payday for a receiver who was the team's No. 3 option last year and is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in Week 17. Despite the injury, the front office's willingness to commit big money to Gallup while trading Amari Cooper to the Browns speaks to how well regarded he is within the building. Optimistic timetables put Gallup back on the practice field in late August, but realistically fantasy managers should prepare for an in-season return. When he does return, he'll be counted on to resume the No. 2 role he had playing alongside Cooper a few seasons ago, before CeeDee Lamb displaced him. Now, the difference is that Gallup will be playing alongside Lamb rather than competing with him for snaps.
