Andy Hicks
Njoku attempts to revitilize his career after a decade in Cleveland. A career year in 2023 fell to only 33 receptions last year. Injuries have also been a constant factor throughout his time in the NFL. Best guess is that he has an occasional good game, but not enough to rely on for fantasy purposes.
Jeff Haseley
Njoku is on the downside of his career entering year ten; however, he will have a chance to carve out a role with the Chargers. His health has been a factor in each of the last two years, missing 11 games total, but he has not had fewer than 4 touchdowns in a season since 2020.
Phil Alexander
Has the talent and offensive environment to drastically outperform his late-round ADP. Pay close attention to his split with Oronde Gadsden in training camp.
Matt Waldman
The optimism for Oronde Gadsden seems misplaced to me. Gadsden started hot because, like Chase Claypool, opposing defenses shifted emphasis to veteran players. By the sixth week of Claypool's career, opposing defenses shifted to Claypool as the priority in zone and played him tighter in man coverage at the boundary. Claypool's value evaporated fast.
Gadsden's value evaporated when opposing defenses pay more attention to him. Gadsden is not a true tight end in skill set.
The Chargers added two true tight ends this offseason. Charlie Kolar is a good blocker with excellent hands over the middle when used as a receiver. David Njoku still has starter skills.
Look for Njoku to lead his corps in targets. I don't believe Gasden will even be a true fantasy factor.
