Sleepers can take a roster from great to league-winning status. The Footballguys staff finds sleepers at edge rusher.

Footballguys Staff's Sleepers: The 1 Edge Rusher to Target Footballguys Staff Published 06/11/2024

A fantasy draft is all about obtaining the most value with each selection. Value is available throughout a draft; grabbing it is one of the most important keys to a successful fantasy team. This article specifically targets deep sleeper value (players that can be found later in a fantasy draft). To point out this value, we asked our staff to look deeper than the Top 150 and identify players that should significantly outperform their late draft position. These players should be your targets in the second half of your draft. Thanks to the folks at TheIDPShow.com for the ADP.

Here is the player who received the most votes:

And here are the reasons why.

Sleeper: Dorance Armstrong, Washington

Gary Davenport: Have Armstrong's tackle numbers been good in Dallas the past two years? Nope—his next 25-solo season will be his first. But Armstrong has also amassed 16 sacks the past two seasons—in under 1,000 snaps. Can the recently-turned 27-year-old continue that sort of per-snap productivity after getting $11 million a year from the Commanders? Washington is making the same bet IDP managers should be this season. If the Commanders hit on a legit full-time edge rusher at that price, it would be grand larceny. The same can be said in IDP leagues.

Kyle Bellefeuil: Armstrong was an effective rotational pass rusher during his time in Dallas, producing 16 sacks and 17 tackles for loss over the last two seasons while only averaging 495 snaps a year over those two years. Washington targetted Armstrong in free agency, electing to award him a three-year $33 million deal. Given the new look of Washington's edge group and his contract, Armstrong should see an uptick in volume. The snap increase will give Armstrong a chance to shine a little brighter, along with stabilizing his weekly floor.
