As the NFL regular season approaches, this article will cover IDP-relevant news and topics from training camps and preseason games. We'll examine injuries, contract situations, camp battles, rookie buzz, and other pertinent IDP topics.
The plan was to have this article ready for your viewing every Thursday until the start of the season. That means this is the final edition of the 2025 preseason. Thanks for tuning in; let's get to it!
IDP News: EDGE Trey Hendrickson, Cincinnati
Trey Hendrickson and the Bengals finally end the contract saga.
Hendrickson, who was set to make $16 million this year, agreed to a reworked one-year, $30 million deal for this upcoming season. The holdup in the contract negotiations reportedly centered on guaranteed money beyond this season. With this new deal, Hendrickson gets his deserved raise and will be set to hit the open market next year. The wait is over, and last year's sack leader will be on the field for us IDP gamers.
IDP News: S Kyle Hamilton, Baltimore
Kyle Hamilton gets the bag with his new extension.
Baltimore makes Kyle Hamilton the highest-paid safety in the game, signing him to a four-year, $100 million contract extension. Hamilton's size and athleticism make him a versatile weapon within the Ravens' defense. His alignment and utilization are also ideal for IDP production, as he spent 69% of his 1,043 regular-season snaps up in the box, slot, and defensive line area last season, per Pro Football Focus. Hamilton is now locked down in Baltimore for the foreseeable future and is a top-tier defensive back asset for us IDP gamers.
IDP News: DT Derrick Harmon, Pittsburgh
First-round rookie Derrick Harmon suffers a knee injury in the preseason finale.
In unfortunate injury news, talented rookie defensive tackle Derrick Harmon suffered an MCL sprain in the Steelers' final preseason game. Pittsburgh is calling Harmon's injury week-to-week, and while he might miss a few games, it doesn't sound like he's headed to short-term injured reserve. Isaiahh Loudermilk, Logan Lee, and Yahya Black are options to pick up the defensive line slack; however, none are exciting IDP options.
