IDP News: LB Jordyn Brooks, Miami
Miami keeps Jordyn Brooks in town for a while on a three-year extension.
Brooks was entering this season on the final year of his previous deal, but the Dolphins paid him handsomely with a three-year, $51.3 million extension to remain a big part of their defense going forward. Brooks is coming off a monster 2025 campaign, leading the NFL in total tackles (183) and solo tackles (99), while also adding 13 tackles for loss and three-and-a-half sacks. For redraft, Brooks is a top-tier LB1, and his new deal and stability give his dynasty appeal a little boost as well.
Let's dive into the rest of the Miami linebacking unit. Tyrel Dodson is coming off a career year, posting 129 tackles (72 solos), 10 tackles for loss, and five sacks last season. However, he's entering the final year of his contract and faces stiff competition from talented second-round rookie Jacob Rodriguez. While Dodson could still start the year as Brooks' counterpart, he'll have his hands full staying ahead of Rodriguez on the depth chart. Rodriguez has more juice and appeal with his three-down skill set once he is up to speed at the NFL level. This situation warrants keeping tabs on when training camp ramps up.
Fourth-round rookie Kyle Louis is also in the mix. Louis is a tweener, safety-linebacker hybrid type player with his skill set and build. While Louis' role looks limited early on given the depth chart, he could find his way onto the field in subpackages with his speed and coverage skills, or Miami could see how he fits at safety given their lackluster depth chart there. For IDP dynasty leagues, Louis is a taxi squad stash who will likely require some patience.
IDP News: DT Devonte Wyatt, Green Bay
Green Bay signs Devonte Wyatt to a three-year extension.
Wyatt, a first-round pick in 2022, was set to play the year on his fifth-year option. However, any uncertainty about his future after this season has been alleviated for the 28-year-old, signing a three-year, $57 million extension with the Packers. The deal makes sense because Wyatt is Green Bay's most talented interior defender and someone new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon will rely on to help stop the run and create pressure from inside.
Last season, Wyatt played in 10 games, holding a 60% snap share, and producing 27 tackles (15 solos), six tackles for loss, and four sacks. Wyatt's 2025 season was cut short due to leg and ankle injuries he suffered in Week 13 against Detroit. Health has been an issue for Wyatt throughout his young career; however, when fit, he's a difference-making interior penetrator. It sounds like Wyatt should be ready when training camp kicks off, and he's worth a look in the later rounds in IDP true-position drafts.
