Updates from Week 4
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
The final week of camp served as a sorting-out period for the quarterback room behind Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville cut backup Nick Mullens and then acquired former Miami Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick. The Jaguars also waived/injured third-stringer Carter Bradley and cut Joey Aguilar, though they will look to add Aguilar back to the practice squad, per former Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar gets news of NFL future after preseason with Jaguars. Lawrence, as expected, solidified his hold on the starting role and will lead Jacksonville into the regular season after a strong training camp.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
Jacksonville kept four running backs: Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez Jr., LeQuint Allen Jr., and Ameer Abdullah. Tuten and Rodriguez remain the most likely candidates for the bulk of the offensive work, while Abdullah's special-teams value helped him secure a roster spot. The more notable decision was releasing DeeJay Dallas, who had been in the running for the third and fourth running back spots; Jacksonville ultimately went younger at running back with Allen while keeping Abdullah's special-teams versatility. The Jaguars also moved on from J'Mari Taylor.
