Scouting Report
Caullin Lacy is built on versatility. A high school running back who played basketball and track in the 2020 class, Lacy split time between running back and wide receiver his freshman year at South Alabama. He transitioned fully to wide receiver when coach Kane Wommack took over in 2021, quickly becoming the primary option and ranking seventh in the NCAA in yards in 2023. He is among the final players with COVID eligibility, returning for a sixth season after an injury redshirt in 2024. He stood out on special teams in 2025, earning second-team All-America honors as a returner and a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award, given to the most versatile player in the NCAA. He is a Mobile, Alabama, resident who earned a chance to play in his hometown at the Senior Bowl.
Lacy primarily played out of the slot with star receiver and fellow 2026 draft hopeful Chris Bell outside and was also involved in the run game. At his best with the ball in his hands, Lacy looks like a running back, transitioning immediately, even downfield. Returner will be his immediate future and a likely Day 3 pick; his fantasy value rises in leagues with returns.
Rundown
Lacy is a versatile converted high school running back who excelled in the return game. Returner will be his path to the NFL roster; he can work out of the slot and the backfield as a supporting player.
