Scouting Report
Chase Roberts is a BYU legacy. His father, Kyle, played defensive back for the Cougars in the early '90s. The younger Roberts is an experienced prospect. He was a three-star recruit in the class of 2019 and served his mission before his playing career. Roberts' breakout came in 2022, when he caught eight passes for 122 yards in an upset of Top 10 Baylor, filling in for an injured Puka Nacua. Since that game, Roberts has been a four-year contributor, ending his career in the Top 8 in career receptions and yards in school history. He was named a team captain before 2025 and earned a spot in the Shrine Bowl to close out his college playing career.
Roberts possesses excellent size and prides himself on being a physically tough receiver. His athleticism will not create much easy separation, especially against NFL coverage. Roberts seeks to make up for athletic shortcomings with technical ability and strong hands in contact situations. Despite good size for the position, he does not have the frame that teams seek to transition to tight end. His NFL path would likely mean contributions as a core-four special teamer and a big slot willing to block in the run game.
Rundown
Roberts is one of the older receivers in the class and one of the most productive players in BYU history. He prides himself on toughness and fits the mold of a big slot who can fill a possession role.
