Scouting Report
Jack Strand is a relatively unknown prospect who dominated the DII level for years. He was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing baseball, basketball, and football, and committed to Minnesota State University Moorhead. As a pitcher, he threw multiple perfect games. He played all four seasons for the Dragons and holds more school records than there is room to list. The CFL has already taken notice, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have his negotiation rights should he forego the NFL route. He was voted team captain by his teammates twice and holds the top three games in his conference history for passing completions in a game.
Strand looks like the best player on the field at all times for the Dragons. His throwing motion is unorthodox, but there is visible zip that gets the ball into tight windows or rips it deep down the field. He tends to bounce in the pocket to keep time and stay on his toes, and he can sometimes lose velocity or timing if he sees a window mid-bounce. He keeps his eyes downfield while evading defenders in the pocket, not to run, but to make plays downfield.
Rundown
Strand has all of the physical tools and has nothing but glowing reviews from coaches and teammates. The lower level of competition is a glaring question in his profile.
