Scouting Report
Jalen Walthall was a three-star, all-state receiver in Texas before starting his career with Hawaii in 2021. He played sparingly over three years at Hawaii before moving to Incarnate Word in 2024. Incarnate Word first popped onto the radar by launching Cam Ward's career in 2021. Walthall starred immediately, earning the Southland Conference offensive player of the year and first team FCS All-American honors in 2024. Walthall was rewarded for his breakout with an invitation to the Shrine Bowl.
Walthall is an explosive outside receiver with prototypical length who made Bruce Feldman's 2025 Freaks List. He runs sharp routes, aided by quick cuts, particularly on out-breaking routes. He shines tracking the ball downfield and outplaying defensive backs in the air. His slight frame and competition level raise questions about his ability to handle physical coverage and work over the middle. He was the clear star for his team, and they utilized him at all three depths. Walthall profiles as a Z receiver, where his length and speed can compensate for physical concerns. He should have an opportunity to test at the Combine and has a good chance of being a Day 3 selection.
Rundown
Walthall offers length and explosive ability as an outside receiver, profiling as a field stretcher with quick cutting ability to contribute in the short area. Competition level is a concern.
