Scouting Report
Sam Roush is a tight end prospect with NFL bloodlines and one of the biggest brains in the class. Two of his uncles and his grandfather played in the NFL. One uncle, Merlin Olsen, is a Pro Football Hall of Famer. He was a three-year starter in high school and committed to Stanford. While at Stanford, he started for three seasons. On the field, he was on the All-ACC second team in 2025, but his off-the-field accolades are more impressive. He won the Al Masters Award for leadership, the STEM Scholar-Athlete Award, and the Tommy Vardell Award for academics.
Roush is a fluid mover with better lateral agility than typically expected for his size. He's a willing blocker, not necessarily a powerful one, and lacks explosiveness at the point of attack. He has experience in an NFL-style offense, as Frank Reich coached Stanford this season, and made the most of a season plagued by quarterback injuries. He had a notable number of drops on tape, with a combination coming from a lack of concentration and some from contact at the catch point. He lacks breakaway speed, but gets open with lateral quickness in and out of his breaks.
Rundown
Roush is one of the most intelligent prospects in the class and can add good receiving depth for a team looking to upgrade their tight end room.
