Scouting Report

Ty Simpson waited for his turn at Alabama and was rewarded for it. Originally a five-star recruit, Simpson was the Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year in high school. He committed to Alabama and waited three seasons to start. He was their clear-cut primary quarterback heading into 2025 and declared for the draft after only 15 college starts. Simpson was named to the second-team All-SEC in 2025.

For a player with limited playtime, Simpson was given a lot of responsibility pre-snap. He was constantly adjusting alignments and calls at the line of scrimmage, and he appears to try to win the game between the ears. His footwork and lack of natural arm talent can result in some missed layups over the middle of the field. The first half of the season showcased a player who could run an NFL offense, but indicators suggest he was playing through an injury in the second half of 2025. His scrambling, accuracy, and willingness to stay in the pocket all declined.

Rundown

Simpson is a volatile prospect. At his best, he's a magician in the pocket who understands how to manipulate defense with his eyes and pre-snap motion. At his worst, he's an undersized prospect who lacks physical tools to succeed at the next level.

Player Comp

Bryce Young

NFL Range of Outcomes

Average Backup to Pro Bowler
