FFBG - How It Works

FFBG
“A board game where your fantasy players are the dice.”

Fill your board. Score big. All season long.

The Full Rules

The Board

The board is a 12×12 grid split into four 6×6 quadrants. Every square carries a stat requirement for that week's NFL games.

See Qualifying for the specifics on how to fill the squares on your board.

Weekly Picks

Every week, pick 10 NFL players for your roster. Eligible players are anyone whose game kicks off Sunday 1:00 PM ET or later.

You can roster the same player as many weeks as you like - there's no limit on picking him, only on placing him (see "Player Limits" below).

Go make this week's picks.

Qualifying

If a player's stat line that week satisfies an open square's requirement, he qualifies for that square. Each quadrant has its own position rules:

QB quadrant: only quarterbacks can fill these squares.

RB quadrant: only running backs.

WR/TE quadrant: wide receivers and tight ends. Two of the quadrant's six requirement levels are reserved for tight ends only.

Team quadrant (interior): The 32 non-corner squares of the team quadrant are each tied to one specific NFL team. To fill one, your player must be an RB, WR, or TE, must be on that team, and must either total 40+ combined rushing + receiving yards OR score a rushing or receiving touchdown.

Team quadrant (corners): The four corner squares of the team quadrant simply require an RB, WR, or TE with 100+ combined rushing and receiving yards. There is no team requirement for the corner squares.

Stat lines and qualifying squares show up as soon as that week's games are final - but placement itself isn't turned on right away. Qualifying players will be ready for placement no later than noon ET on Wednesdays.

Placing

If a player qualifies for more than one open square, you choose one. Once placed, a square is filled and stays that way for the rest of the season.

Changed your mind? You can undo a placement any time until that week's placement window closes - Sunday at 1:00 PM ET. After that, it's locked in for good.

Player Limits

A player can occupy at most 3 squares on your board for the whole season, even though you can roster him in your weekly 10 as many times as you like.

Once a player has filled his 3 squares he stops appearing in player search, so you can't waste a roster spot on someone you'd have no way to place.

Scoring

Scoring happens once, at the end of the season. Each quadrant is scored independently by its runs of filled squares in a row or column - never diagonally.

3 in a row1 point
4 in a row3 points
5 in a row7 points
6 in a row (a full row or column)15 points

A square that's part of both a qualifying row and a qualifying column counts toward both.

Your overall score weights your weakest quadrant the heaviest: the four quadrant scores are ranked worst to best and multiplied by 4, 3, 2, and 1 respectively, then summed. This rewards spreading your effort across all four quadrants rather than stacking one.

Season Length

The contest runs through week 15 - there is no week 16, 17, or 18 play.
