After a strong rookie season, he took a step back in 2024. This is a crossroads season for him, where he will either ascend as one of the better young quarterbacks in the league or be mired in mediocrity.

If there's an area where I'm underselling Stroud's fantasy value, it's his TD totals. I have him throwing 23 touchdowns at this point. If he can earn 30, he's likely a borderline fantasy QB1 in 12-team leagues.
I just don't see who gets remotely close to the 10 scores I'm projecting for Nico Collins. It will have to be a combination of Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins, and Dalton Schultz. If I have reason to double the totals of each, it could happen.
Right now, I'm cautious with that line and a new coordinator.

C.J. Stroud effective in preseason game
Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud went 6-for-8 for 44 yards and one touchdown during the preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Saturday, Aug. 16.
C.J. Stroud pleased with offseason work
Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud worked hard on his speed in the offseason to help him evade defenders in the pocket after he was sacked 52 times and pressured on 38.6% of his drop-backs in 2024.'I've been working really hard on getting my body right - losing body fat, trying to be faster, stronger. And it went really well. ... (Working) pocket mobility, running out the pocket, throwing the rock. Everything kind of works hand in hand,' Stroud said recently.

Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud (shoulder) worked during the offseason to 'los[e] body fat, try to be faster, stronger' per comments from Stroud, who said that the training 'went really well,' though it did lead to soreness in his throwing shoulder that led to him missing practices during OTAs and minicamp.
Kirk A Big Believer In C.J. Stroud
It hasn't taken long for Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk to become impressed with quarterback C.J. Stroud. Kirk believes Stroud can lead the Texans to a championship. "He's going to take this team as far as we want to go, with him being at his best," Kirk said.
