Mendoza is a number one overall pick which usually portends to a secure future as a fantasy quarterback. How good depends on his landing spot. Vegas needs a lot of help, especially at receiver. Bringing in Kirk Cousins is a big boost to his prospects. Mendoza will be watched with interest.

Kirk Cousins 'playing this next game', Mendoza 'ready to go when called upon'
Raiders QB Kirk Cousins remains the starter ahead of No. 1 overall pick QB Fernando Mendoza with Las Vegas off to a 3-0 start. "We're just worried about playing the next game, and [Cousins is] playing this next game," Raiders coach Klint Kubiak said, via Mark Anderson of the Associated Press. "Fernando's ready to go when called upon." Cousins has won seven straight starts, the league's longest active streak, and has thrown nine touchdown passes and three interceptions with a 107.2 passer rating, eighth in the league.
Fernando Mendoza is listed as QB2
Las Vegas Raiders HC Klint Kubiak has declined to say whether rookie Fernando Mendoza or Aidan O'Connell will back up starting quarterback Kirk Cousins. But the team's depth chart says it's Mendoza. The Raiders released their first depth chart of the regular season Tuesday, and it has Mendoza as QB2 and O'Connell as QB3.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Fernando Mendoza will reportedly receive 'plenty of game reps' this Thursday in the Raiders' preseason game against the Cardinals and throughout the preseason, according to HC Klint Kubiak on Tuesday, Aug. 11.
