Jerome Ford receives settlement

Washington Commanders RB Jerome Ford (undisclosed) was released with an injury settlement Sunday, Aug. 23.

Flurry of roster moves by WAS on Tuesday

Free-agent TE Tre' McKitty (Texans), DE Maurice Hurst (Browns), and LB Krys Barnes (Panthers) were signed by the Washington Commanders, according to a source on Tuesday, Aug. 18. Financial and contract terms were not disclosed. The Commanders also released P Matt Haack and placed RB Jerome Ford (undisclosed) and WR River Cracraft (undisclosed) on the reserve/injured list.

Washington likely to use RB committee situation

Washington Commanders RBs Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols are the top two returning backs for the team. They added RBs Jerome Ford and Rachaad White in offseason transactions, while also adding RB Kaytron Allen in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. The team is also intrigued by undrafted rookie RB Robert Henry Jr. The team hasn't had a No. 1 running back in a while, and it appears the team will enter the season with a running back by committee situation.
