Boutte has a volatile profile at this point of the year. If traded before August, he could have become a viable starter elsewwere. If traded midseason, it might have been a "wait until next year, " proposition.
With Boutte traded after the second preseason game, there's time for Boutte to learn enough of the offense to contribute weekly but with Nico Collins, Jaylin Noel, and Dalton Schultz established options, Boutte might be no better than option No.3-No.4 in the passing game -- a passing game that might be operating out of a lot of 12 personnel for David Montgomery's running as the set up.
Boutte offers the Texans a lot of versatility with its personnel. He can sub for Nicole Collins, take over for Jayden HIggins now, and pay flanker/slot if needed. Expect a near-even split with Jaylin Noel as a fantasy bye-week option and a starter ceiling if more receivers get hurt.
