Minkah Fitzpatrick, Kiko Mauigoa, Mason Taylor out vs. Lions; Nwangwu 'doubtful'

Jets S Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin), LB Kiko Mauigoa (quad) and TE Mason Taylor (thumb) did not practice all week and will be out for Sunday, September 27 against Detroit, head coach Aaron Glenn said Friday. RB Kene Nwangwu also did not practice and is "doubtful," per Glenn. WR Adonai Mitchell (finger) was limited Friday after catching his finger on a jersey in Thursday's practice, while DE Joseph Ossai and DE David Bailey were full participants. Rookie CB D'Angelo Ponds, inactive for the first two weeks after missing training camp with a calf strain, was a "full go," and Glenn said "we'll see" when asked if he will make his debut.

Adonai Mitchell (finger) limited Thursday, Mason Taylor (thumb) out again

Jets WR Adonai Mitchell was added to the injury report on Thursday as a limited participant due to a finger injury, his first appearance on the injury report for any reason this season. Mitchell has nine catches for 123 yards through two weeks. TE Mason Taylor (thumb), RB Kene Nwangwu (back), S Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin), and LB Kiko Mauigoa (quad) all missed practice for the second straight day, while LBs Joseph Ossai (foot) and David Bailey (elbow) remained limited. Injury designations for Sunday's game at Detroit will be revealed on Friday.

Arian Smith out for season with ACL tear; Onyemata, McCrary-Ball also hit IR

Jets HC Aaron Glenn told reporters Wednesday that WR Arian Smith will miss the rest of the season after undergoing ACL surgery, saying, 'He'll be out for the year. Tough, but he'll bounce back very well.' Smith, a fourth-round pick from Georgia, tore his ACL during Sunday's overtime win over the Packers and was placed on injured reserve along with DL David Onyemata (core muscle surgery) and LB Marcelino McCrary-Ball. Ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions, TE Mason Taylor (thumb), S Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin), RB-KR Kene Nwangwu (back) and LB Kiko Mauigoa (quad) all sat out Wednesday's practice, while edge Joseph Ossai (plantar fascia) is 'very close' to returning, according to Glenn. The Jets also signed veteran QB Will Levis to the practice squad, releasing Bailey Zappe, with Glenn calling Levis 'a good player that we feel like we can develop.'
