Penix Jr. set to return Week 3, Terrell heads to injured reserve

Yahoo Sports reports that Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. is set to return in Week 3 after Atlanta's lifeless Week 2 loss to the Panthers. The report also notes that Falcons CB A.J. Terrell has been placed on injured reserve.

Tua Tagovailoa full participant, could serve as Falcons backup QB Thursday

Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk reports that Falcons QB Tua Tagovailoa was listed as a full participant in practice on Tuesday for the first time since suffering an oblique injury before Week 1. Tagovailoa won't start Thursday night against the Packers, as Atlanta has already named QB Michael Penix Jr. the starter, but Tagovailoa could serve as the backup ahead of QB Cooper Rush and QB Jack Strand. Also on Tuesday, the Falcons placed CB A.J. Terrell (groin) on injured reserve, while RB Brian Robinson (ankle) was listed as a full participant.

Michael Penix Jr. named starting QB for Thursday vs. Packers, first game since ACL tear

Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports reports that the Atlanta Falcons have announced that QB Michael Penix Jr. will start when they face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Penix, a 2024 first-round pick, has not played since tearing his ACL in Week 11 of the 2025 season and underwent surgery last November. He was cleared to participate in 11-on-11 work during the final week of the preseason but told coach Kevin Stefanski before Week 1 that he wasn't ready to play. QB Cooper Rush started Atlanta's first two games this season after Tua Tagovailoa suffered an oblique injury in practice.

Michael Penix Jr. set to start Thursday night vs. Packers

Yahoo Sports reports that Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. will start at quarterback on Thursday Night Football against the Green Bay Packers. Penix returns to the lineup as Atlanta's preferred starting quarterback in time for the primetime matchup.
