Saquon Barkley

Barkley has had some elite seasons, some injury affected years and like his 2025 ones that were below par. As Barkley approaches his 30th birthday, he has to contend with a strong depth chart behind him and expectations that may beyond his reach at this stage of his career. We can hope he has another elite year, but I would expect far less. 

Barkley is expected to be a main focal point of Sean Mannion's offense, especially with the departure of A.J. Brown to New England. Mannion brings a similar offensive style to Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay, which includes heavy play-action and pre-snap movement. While optimism abounds in Philadelphia, Jalen Hurts will be a huge factor in how well the offense consistently performs. We've seen him struggle at times, and he will be on his 5th coordinator in as many years. 

The RB I'm most likely to push up my board by August, Barkley will play the Todd Gurley role in Sean Mannion's LA-inspired scheme. Gurley delivered excellent production for two years before hurting his knee against the Chiefs on Monday night and struggling intermittently for the rest of his career. 

Barkley is at his best with gap blocking, but he has become a competent zone runner. Wide zone offers the easiest bridge for gap runners to become competent in a zone scheme. 

Barkley should pick it up fast. The wild card is Tank Bigsby, who ran mostly gap plays at Auburn and did his best work with gap plays in Jacksonville. If Bigsby transitions fast, the Eagles migth limited Barkley's workload enough to keep him at a mid-range RB1 ceiling. If not, Barkley could return to elite production.
