I was going to open this week's newsletter with a Halloween joke, but ultimately decided to pass on the low-hanging fruit. I wouldn't want to trick you into thinking these injury updates are all treats.
WR A.J. Brown | 4:25 PM EST Kickoff
A.J. Brown continues to be a frustrating injury situation after returning sooner than expected from a high ankle sprain and clearly looking less than 100%. Now questionable with both knee and ankle injuries, Brown's absence from Friday's practice raises concerns about his Week 8 availability.
Historically, wide receivers returning from high ankle sprains tend to experience lingering performance declines, and Brown's ongoing knee issues only complicate matters. Even if active, he's nowhere near the WR1 ceiling fantasy managers drafted him for, especially given the current state of the Patriots' offense. At this point, Brown carries a concerning floor, and I would significantly temper expectations.
RB Breece Hall | 1:00 PM EST Kickoff
Breece Hall is questionable after missing four weeks with a quadriceps strain, putting him in outlier territory, as only 11% of running backs with similar injuries miss five or more weeks. With trade rumors swirling, it's fair to wonder whether there's more to this prolonged absence than just the injury. Given his limited practice participation, I suspect Hall will need at least one full practice before returning; I'm concerned he will be inactive in Week 8.
RB Saquon Barkley | 7:20 PM EST Kickoff
Saquon Barkley is officially off the final injury report despite battling back from hamstring injuries that left him visibly hobbled in Week 7. With Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, and Dameon Pierce all on injured reserve, Philadelphia is extremely thin at running back.
Jaydon Blue or Elijah Mitchell are both worth rostering as insurance. Although Barkley remains a startable option, his lingering injuries, the Eagles' struggling offensive line, and Jalen Hurts' season-ending absence significantly limit his fantasy ceiling. Given the current state of Philadelphia's offense, I view Barkley as a low-end RB2 moving forward.
RB Zach Charbonnet | 8:15 PM EST Kickoff - MONDAY
Zach Charbonnet was limited Friday after practicing in full earlier in the week, although this change could have been weather-related rather than an injury setback. There was speculation that Charbonnet could return to a significant workload, but given his recovery timeline following an ACL tear, I anticipate a gradual ramp-up. I still expect him to play in Week 8, but I would prefer to keep him on fantasy benches until we see how he looks on the field. Despite my cautious approach this week, I'm optimistic about his rest-of-season outlook.
RB Kyle Monangai | 8:15 PM EST Kickoff - MONDAY
Kyle Monangai did not practice all week as he continues to recover from a turf toe injury. Monangai has been ruled out for Week 8 and I wouldn't automatically penicil him to play the following week either. Although the team initially suggested a 1–2 week timeline, these injuries are often more limiting, with recovery typically closer to four weeks.
