Mike McDaniel is installing a quick-hitting passing offense. McDaniel has adjusted Justin Herbert's drops to facilitate his quick game.
He's also emphasizing quick-hitting run blocks to generate craters that Miami generated when Raheem Mostert and Davon Achane delivered peak seasons on the ground. There will be a lot of play fakes and reads that involve runners and receivers working sideline to sideline to confuse linebackers and safeties.
A big part of McDaniel's offense was the YAC skills his receivers Tyreek HIll and Jaylen Waddle could deliver off quick-hitting throws. Hill and Waddle were explosive route runners with excellent drive phases in their routes that led to quick-hitting catches while at top speed.
Expect Johnston to become a nightmare after the catch in this system becausse YAC has been Johnston's wheelhouse. Finally, a coach willing to leverage it.

Quentin Johnston showing growth
Los Angeles Chargers WR Quentin Johnston has shown a lot of growth, even in the past week, according to new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. 'You'd be hard pressed to find a guy that's grown more specifically in the last week than Q,' McDaniel said. 'I think he's a guy that has some traits in his game that are similar to some very powerful, explosive, productive receivers that I've had in the past, namely like Julio (Jones) and Andre (Johnson) and so we're pushing him.'
