Game-by-game Weather Outlook: Week 12

Clayton Gray's Game-by-game Weather Outlook: Week 12 Clayton Gray Published 11/20/2013

With the end of the season approaching, we also find the weather conditions deteriorating. While it would be fantastic to play every game under controlled conditions, that's obviously impossible.

Let's first run down weather-related items that can affect game play:

  • Strong winds
  • Heavy rain
  • Fog
  • Heavy snow

Obviously, strong wind can hurt a team's passing game. When the wind is below 15 MPH, there isn't much to worry about. Wind speed between 15 and 25 MPH starts to affect deep throws. Anything higher than 25 MPH will begin to make intermediate and short passes more difficult. The other three items listed above can hurt visibility.

Overall, however, don't go overboard on worrying about weather. If you are deciding between two similar player, take the good weather. If you are looking for an injury replacement or a one-week starter, take the good weather.

Now, let's look at the forecast for Week 12.
