Buy Low, Sell High: Week 8

Buy High

Gardner Minshew (QB-IND) - If you are struggling at quarterback - and let’s face it, if you don’t have a top-four option, you are probably not happy with what you have right now - then Minshew might be the option that can help you stay afloat without costing you a move that weakens you elsewhere to acquire him. He has at least 225 passing yards and a passing score in each of his three starts so far this year, and he posted four total touchdowns last week against a Cleveland defense that just befuddled Brock Purdy. Minshew has an underrated wide receiver group and maybe the best play-caller in the game on his side. The Colts will also be indoors in Week 15-17, and their remaining schedule features five games against the mediocre AFC and NFC South.

Isiah Pacheco (RB-KC) - How likely is it that the lead back for one of the best offenses in the league will go without a 2- or 3-touchdown outburst game all season? The Chiefs have only scored four rushing touchdowns this year through seven games. They scored 18 last year. Pacheco has also been a surprise in the passing game and even scored as a receiver last week. The Chiefs are being smart and rarely putting Pacheco on the field for more than 60% of the snaps. And they haven’t had their bye yet, so he should have a lot in the tank for the stretch run when the weather gets colder. It’s also possible that Jerick McKinnon doesn’t dominate December touchdowns again this year, giving Pacheco a league-winner outcome.

Sell High

Travis Etienne Jr. (RB-JAX) - There are many reasons to get out of Etienne in redraft, even if it is just to make a lateral move. He has posted an unsustainable two rushing touchdowns weekly over the last three games. Two of his scores have been long daggers to clinch games against inferior teams, where the Jaguars have few games left where they will be heavily favored. Etienne is on pace to get 300 carries, and he has been in on over 80% of the snaps in each of the last four weeks, which could be unsustainable and risk an overuse injury. Don’t sell Etienne - just because - in redraft, but it’s possible that turning him into someone like Tony Pollard, Saquon Barkley, or Austin Ekeler is the right move.
