We have neared the end of the voyage for IDP managers Living The Stream.
In the overwhelming majority of IDP leagues, Week 16 is Semifinals Week. No matter how many boats left the dock at the beginning of the season, just four remain afloat. Get a victory this week, and it's on to the championship game. Get one win after that, and confetti will rain from the heavens as you are crowned champion.
It's so close you can practically taste it.
Jameis Winston is something else.
However, just as in Winston's pregame, um, "speech," the job isn't done. Not yet. There are still those two victories to be had, and neither will be easy. There are no cupcakes left in December. Every opponent is a difficult out. Every lineup decision can be the difference between moving on to the title game of calling it a year.
And if you're Living the Stream in Week 16, it means you are already starting the week with a hole in the starting lineup.
So, let's get down to the business of filling it.
Week 16 IDP Matchup Plays
EDGE Abdul Carter, NY Giants (vs. Minnesota)
The third overall pick in last April's draft, Carter was supposed to be an immediate difference-maker for the Giants. Instead, Carter has been a non-factor who has twice been benched for missing meetings. However, after a solid outing last week against the Washington Commanders, interim head coach Mike Kafka said he's hopeful that Carter is turning a corner.
"It showed up in the game," Kafka told reporters. "Now the challenge, just like it is for everybody, is can you do that again? You have a good game, can you stack another day? Can you stack another week? Can you stack another game? And so, that'll be the challenge for him."
Carter had seven total tackles, a sack, and a pair of forced fumbles—the second straight game in which he logged a sack and at least four total tackles. No,w Carter and the G-Men take on a Minnesota Vikings team that has allowed the third-most sacks in the NFL and the fifth-most fantasy points to edge-rushers in The Godfather's Default IDP Scoring.
EDGE James Pearce Jr., Atlanta (at Arizona)
More than a few eyebrows went skyward in April's draft when the Falcons dealt their 2026 first-rounder to the Rams to trade up and select Pearce. But after a quiet first half of the season, the rookie has gone on a second-half rampage—drawing the praise of defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich in the process.
"It's exciting because the sky's the limit for this young man," he told reporters. "As long as he keeps refining his process and really puts his nose down and continues to work and keeps the humility that we have with him right now, the sky's the limit. He's going to be an absolute problem for a long, long time."
After logging the first two-sack game of his career in last week's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pearce has now recorded a sack or more in a whopping six straight games ahead of a favorable matchup for his position with the Cardinals. He's also available in far more IDP leagues than he should be.
