Updates from Week 4
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
Kyle Trask started the preseason finale against the Bills with Teddy Bridgewater unavailable due to illness. Trask showed improvement from last week's game against the Steelers and looked to have more control of the offense. Connor Bazelak took over responsibilities in the second half. Head coach Todd Bowles praised Bazelak's performance, saying, "I like the way 'Baze' handled the two-minute at the end... He did a heck of a job in the second half; he did a good job last week. So, he's growing without a lot of reps." The quarterback competition between Trask and Bridgewater for the backup role behind Baker Mayfield remains ongoing as roster cuts approach. Still, with Bridgewater missing reps this week, it's likely Trask will keep the job.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
Rachaad White is still listed as questionable as he's recovering from a groin injury from Week 1 of the preseason. White will be expected to be ready to go to start the season, but we have the potential to see even more of Bucky Irving if White's injury lingers. We also got a chance to see Rookie Josh Williams and Sean Tucker get some touches in White's absence against the Bills. Williams was impressive as the lead back, showcasing his explosiveness and playmaking ability. Tucker will be the presumed RB2 if White is sidelined for a long time, but White's groin injury seems mild, and we can expect him to be participating in team practices and ready for Week 1.
