Week 5 gives us one game everyone wants a piece of and a handful of cheap spots the field is mostly ignoring. Lions at Cardinals carries the highest total on the board at 54.5, Detroit is a 5.5 point favorite, and ownership is already piling up around that game. Meanwhile a Bears road game in Green Bay sits at 45.5 with almost no one rostering it. Below are 10 plays worth building around, broken down by position with the reasoning behind each one.
Quarterback
Jacoby Brissett, Arizona Cardinals, $5,500 (vs. Detroit)
Brissett is going to be one of the most popular quarterbacks on the slate, and the price explains why. With a 54.5 point total and Detroit favored by 5.5, Arizona should be throwing to keep up. He has Trey McBride and Michael Wilson to throw to, and the worst fantasy finish Detroit has allowed to a quarterback this season is QB7, so this is not a defense that shuts opposing passers down. The catch is ownership. He projects near 19 percent, so in large tournaments you may want to pair him with a contrarian piece elsewhere rather than treat him as a lone differentiator.
Tyson Bagent, Chicago Bears, $4,700 (at Green Bay)
This is the leverage play of the week. Caleb Williams is listed out, which puts Bagent under center for a Bears team that is a 3 point road favorite in a 45.5 point game. At $4,700 he projects for about 16 points while carrying roughly 1 to 2 percent ownership, a gap that rarely shows up at quarterback. If Williams' status changes before kickoff, this play disappears, so check the inactives. If it holds, Bagent frees up a massive amount of salary for the expensive spots on this list, and he comes with a natural stack partner in Luther Burden III.
Running Back
D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears, $6,200 (at Green Bay)
