Caleb Williams

There were numerous stories pre-season last year about how Ben Johnson was going to throw the entire complex playbook at Williams and make him sink or swim. He swam quite well, but with even normal development he should get better in 2026. Stats are one thing, the eyeball test tells me Caleb Williams will be an elite NFL quarterback. Sooner rather than later. He deserves time to fix the flaws in his game. His positives are numerous. 

At times last year, Williams looked like a top-flight quarterback, showing great poise under pressure and leading six late comebacks. His accuracy could still use a little work, but with the talent around him in Chicago, he has the potential to take another leap forward this season. 

Williams played through an abundance of doubters in the public arena to deliver QB5 production in 2025. Consider the factors surrounding Williams' performance:

Two receivers and a tight end with less than three years of experience. His third offensive coach in two years.  One of the most complex and structured offenses in the NFL. A demanding head coach/offensive mind.  Learning to play under center.  Coming off a year where his lack off offensive line play was borderline abuse that scars many young QBs.

Williams' completion percentage will be an issue with some of the stat kids, but read this list again. Go back and watch the multiple games where Williams lead this team during a comeback victory. Consider the overall resiliency to shrug off mistakes in games last year and perform at a high level as well as shrug of all of 2024. 

Williams has embraced being a student of the game in a complex offense. He's still growing as a top-five talent. 

Williams was the QB5 last season and should take steps forward in Year 2 with Ben Johnson. Plus, it's hard not to love the weapons around him. Could be a huge year.
